There is more than one answer to that, but the simplest reply is that as professional accountants, we obviously are fans of numbers, and 8 is our favourite number.
8 is also a ‘never ending’ number, and it resembles the symbol for infinity, which we think is a nice touch.
Lastly, and purely by coincidence, we are 8 members in our fantastic team, and though we’re not superstitious, maybe there is a deeper meaning here.
Since we’re talking about 8 and numbers, the number 1 rule here at 8 is that our clients aren’t numbers. To this day, Massimo meets all our clients himself, face to face. Although 8 has grown throughout the years, our growth has been carefully managed specifically for this reason; we do not intend to ever lose touch with our clients.
Although we’ve never advertised, we’re still always at capacity. We handle no more than 200 clients in a single year, another magic number that has always worked for us. How come? From experience, we know that working this way, we can give our clients the level of service they each deserve, without overloading our team, nor compromising on quality.
We listen to what our clients tell us, and top of the list in their concerns is that when dealing with our competitors, clients inevitably end up talking to a new person every few months and have to explain their business from the beginning. This is not right, and we do not want this for 8 and our clients.
This ‘account mentality’, is, in our opinion, unsatisfactory, as it provides poor customer service, and creates more room for errors to be made. So while we have grown, we have kept our roots strong; our founder Massimo meets all the clients himself, regularly, and is aware of what each client needs.
Here at 8 we take pride in doing business with a personal touch, as only in this way can we guarantee top-notch, personalised service to each and every one of our loyal clients, making sure to deliver on their needs and exceed their expectations.
What we have come to expect from our work, because it’s what we’ve always had, is complete, utter, and blind trust between us and our clients. This expectation is only realistic because we have always worked with integrity on the interests of our clients, with continuity always in mind, and with sincerity and complete truthfulness in our dealings.
It was the mid-80s when Massimo Briffa, the founder of 8, first got a taste of professional life, starting at the very bottom in an import business, loading and unloading crates, washing the warehouse, and so on. It took a few years, but eventually he reached the top, which felt good, for a while.
Setting his sights higher, Massimo started in the audit and accounting line of business in 1998, and quickly built a reputation for trustworthiness and truth.
In July 2005, Massimo set up shop on his own, choosing the name ‘8’, and starting with two clients whom he first started helping back in 1998, and who still remain with us to this very day. These same two clients started referring us to more, speaking highly of our results and professional approach, and the 8 snowball picked up steam.
In 2008, the first employee at 8 was hired, and they are still here to this day. All other subsequent employees to join the team also stayed on, only leaving if choosing to focus on parenthood, or if they retired.
Since our very first days, Massimo and his colleagues at 8 have served hundreds of clients in diverse operations, always discreetly and with professionalism.
When not out meeting clients, Massimo is either in the office, or with his family and their big Labrador, Pinu. A family man through and through, Massimo is extremely satisfied that he has created three families for himself; his wife and kids, his colleagues at 8, and their clients.
